Broadway Grand Rapids presents Hamilton

Where do I start? How about here: The Hamilton musical, put on by Broadway Grand Rapids, at the DeVos Performance Hall was amazing! I had never been to a musical and didn't know anything about this one, except for it's popularity and the song, "Wrote My Way Out" because of the Nas and Dave East features. 

I purposely didn't do any research about the performance, so there wouldn't be any preconceived notions. From beginning to end, I was captivated by the story, music, choreography and energy. The performers all did well. It's unbelievable that they can remember so many songs and dances then perform them live without mistake night after night.

At times, I found myself bobbing my head to the music because it was SO good. I grew up listening to Hip Hop and R&B which is why I thought musicals weren't my thing. However, this music in the show samples some of the greatest hip hop songs of all time. Both the lyrics and beats were on point. The story takes you up and down a rollercoatser of emotions. Lin Manuel Miranda "killed it" on this one!

I can't say enough about how great this performance was The DeVos Performance Hall was well kept. The staff were attentive and helpful. The seats were comfortable and the sound effects were spot on. My seats was in the Orchestra section which is towards the front, so I walked around to see the views from other seats. It doesn't matter where you sit, every seat has a great view of the stage.
