However, I think we can all agree that GR offers things to do for all types of people. I'll be listing 50 things to do in Grand Rapids that may interest you. Each article will list 10 new options. If you missed the last 10 find them HERE. Enjoy! 11. Attend ArtPrize ArtPrize is a massive art competition that takes place all over the city. From large exhibits that you can stand under all the way to smaller pieces that sit on tables, ArtPrize has it all. Hundreds of thousands of people pass through to see what's on display. Over $450,000 of awards are given out when its all said and done. It is truly a staple of Grand Rapids. 12. Take a tour of GR in a helicopter Fly over downtown Grand Rapids for a spectacular view of the city. See how much nature and city fill GR from a birds eye view. Fall tours are on sale right now HERE. 13. Relax at Rosa From 12:00-1:30 for lunchtime, Rosa Parks Circle hosts local bands, food trucks, and oversized games for the community to enjoy. Don't miss out on this from June to September. 14. Visit Meijer Gardens Meijer Gardens is a major cultural attraction centering around horticulture and sculpture. It is the perfect mix of art and nature. It houses a one of a kind amphitheater that hosts an array of popular artists. Throughout the year many exhibits come to the park which bring in many visitors from in and out of the city. 15. Enjoy the GR Symphony More than 90 years ago, our community was determined that an orchestra would strengthen the city and region. Since then the GR Symphony has received national recognition for their high-quality concerts. Make sure to visit one of the 10 concert series throughout the year. 16. Walk along the riverfront The Grand River runs through downtown Grand Rapids. As time goes on, the riverfront gets updated which usually offers more to the community. There is a performance venue/area at Ah-Nab-Awen Park and sidewalk that follows the river all the way to the Blue Bridge. On both sides of the river there are picturesque areas to sit or stroll by. 17. Get lost in the GRAM The Grand Rapids Art Museum has been around for over 100 years. It's a world class art museum connecting people with art and helping them understand it along the way. They are an arts venue, resource, and an educational institute all in one. 18. Catch a Grand Rapids Griffins game The Griffins are the Grand Rapids' professional hockey team which is part of the AHL. They are an affiliate with the Detroit Red Wings, founded in 1996. Most recently, the Griffins won the Calder Cup championship in 2017 and have been a staple in the AHL since joining. Get in on the fun from October to April at Van Andel Arena 19. Fill up at Food Truck Fridays Every Summer, from May to September, Riverside park hosts Food Truck Fridays. An array of food trucks fill the park offering the community a place to get outside and enjoy a meal or snack. Pets and good vibes are what you'll find here. 20. Watch a flick at Movies In The Park
Ah-Nab-Awen Park use to hold movies in the park but more parks have jumped in on the fun. If you love being outside with friends and watching movies, this is your chance to do both at the same time. Stay tuned for the next movies in the park schedule.
